Ayo – Love Every Stage Of Your Hair

Tell me a little about yourself

My name is Ayo. I love going out with friends and making people laugh.

How long have you been natural?

I have been natural for seven months and I have always embraced my curls.

What motivated you to transition?

My cousin did the big chop 2 years ago and I became envious of her curls. Also, my relaxed hair was constantly breaking so I decided to transition.

How would you describe your hair?

I would describe my hair as a 4B. I have kinky-coily hair, soft but shrinks a lot.

What do you love the most about your hair?

I love its softness and fluffiness.

Has it always been easy or difficult or both?

It has been easy and stressful, but not difficult. The TWA stage was very easy as I was able to wake up and just go, but as my hair grows longer it gets more stressful. Combing, detangling, twisting or braiding in and out can be very stressful.

What are your favourite hairstyles and current dos?

I don’t actually have a favourite hairstyle but I like to twist or braid out my hair to get defined curls and I use hair band to push it up.

What have your experiences been as a natural with people?

People (family and friends) said it suited me and brings out my facial features. I remember going to college few days after the big chop and I saw one my friend and he literally walked past me. Few minutes later he messaged me to say he saw a boy that looks exactly like me and I was just like it was me. lol

What is your hair regimen?

I shampoo, deep condition, comb and detangle my hair once a week. I moisturise, seal and twist or braid my hair after washing to prevent it from shrinkage. I also use honey and coconut oil mask on my hair every two weeks and I do not apply heat to my hair.

What are your favourite products?

My favourite products are Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Virgin Hair Fertilizer, Argan Oil, Soft Sheen Care Free Curl Activator, Carrot crème, Olive oil hair moisturising lotion, Cantu Shea Butter leave-in conditioning cream and Theorie Helichrysum nourishing shampoo and conditioner.

What are your favourite natural hair websites, bloggers or vloggers?

Elle & Neecie and Angel

Any inspirational words?

Love every stage of your hair.
