My Weekly Natural Hair Regimen – Week 2

Natural Hair Regimen

The week 2 natural hair regimen for dry hair is slightly different from week 1 because of the wash day. I alternate between shampoo and co-wash. If you have noticed, I don’t use protein treatment on my hair because I have a natural 4C hair, and we don’t need that much protein. Besides, the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie already has a little bit of protein – just a minimum amount of it – and I use the smoothie as my daily moisturiser. That means I do not have to do any protein treatment as my hair is equally moisturised and strengthened every day.

So, let’s go into Week 2, starting from Saturday (wash day)

Week 2

Unlike week 1, where I had to twist my hair before using shampoo, in week 2, it’s different. I will be using my As I Am Co-wash Cleansing Conditioner as my shampoo. This cleansing conditioner cleans my scalp and hair while retaining moisture – and it does make detangling such an easy effort.

So I take my As I Am conditioner and spread it on untwisted hair and I rub gently. I use my ‘soft water’ (citric acid or EDTA salt mixed with water) to rinse. After, I use my Faith In Nature conditioner or Naked Intensive Care Conditioner, then I detangle. This should take about 30 mins.

I can choose to twist my hair or leave it as it is. Then I wrap my hair in plastic cap and sit under a heat cap for 30 minutes. After this, I rinse out the conditioner, then I use my organic avocado oil, my Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, and sometimes my Shea Moisture Gel Souffle if I need extra hold, and then I twist my hair and let it air dry.

Week 2 wash day is a breeze. I spend about 2 hours or less on my hair compared to my week 1, which takes about 3 hours.

Sunday – Friday

My routine is pretty much the same like week 1. I will feel my hair to see if it is dry. If it is dry, I will spray ‘soft water’ on my hair, use a little of my avocado oil, add my Curl Enhancing Smoothie and sometimes my Gel Souffle, and I am done.

Sometimes, I re-twist at night, and sometimes I don’t. This all depends on whether I want to have curl definition the next day or whether I am feeling extremely lazy 😀
